NorFalco is the exclusive distributor of sulfuric acid produced by Xstrata Copper's Horne smelter at Rouyn-Noranda, Québec.
The smelter is located at the site of the former Horne mine, which closed in 1976. It is a custom copper smelter which uses both copper concentrates and precious metal-bearing recyclable materials as its feedstock to produce a 99.1% copper anode.
The Horne smelter has grown to become the largest and most advanced recycling plant of its kind in North America, with a unique ability to process complex feeds. The operations employ approximately 500 people.
The modern sulfuric acid plant is complemented by an 80,000-ton storage system with truck and rail shipping.
